Dirty Epics

“Dirty Epics are among the best of the new breed of Irish bands currently making waves. With just one single under their belts to date, clearly they have a long way to go. But in their front woman SJ Wai, they have a very special talent indeed. It’s not just that she has loads of sex appeal. She is driven, charismatic and impressively confident. And the band exhibit a spiky punk pop sensibility that promises hit singles to come. File under: watch this space….” Niall Stokes, Editor, Hotpress Magazine from “Tomorrow The World!” Hotpress Year Book 2007

“SJ Wai, the singer of Dublin band Dirty Epics, is one of the most exciting performers in the country” from Epic Tales of Love by Martin Burns – News of the World 24/02/08

The band, fronted by their boisterous singer SJ Wai, are, Cormac Farrell – Guitar, Richie Power – Bass Guitar and Alan Delaney – Drums.

The foundations of the band date back to their school days, where SJ, Cormac and Richie first honed their skills together as musicians and songwriters. Meanwhile in a town far far away, drummer Alan's musical genius was also taking shape. When their paths finally crossed - Dirty Epics were born.

Their electrifying performances have seen them gig at: Tripod - supporting The Rapture, Crawdaddy – their Launch Gig on the 11th of April 07 was voted “Gig of the Week” by The Irish Times The Ticket, The New Bands Stage - Oxegen 2007, TBMC - the Delorentos album launch, The POD at their packed out Hard Working Class Heroes performance, Music Ireland in the RDS and various other hotspots around the country.

Their debut single “Demolition Man” a furious pop rock love song for the 21st century went on sale in April 2007. Well received by critics and radio, it was used on RTE as a promo for top tv drama “Grey’s Anatomy” and has also been included on the Hughes and Hughes /Hotpress “Fly With Me – The Best in Irish Music” promo cd, one of seven tracks with established artists Phil Lynott, Sinead O’Connor and Bell X1.

They’ve just completed their hotly anticipated debut album entitled Straight In No Kissing - raunchy rock, pop and punk tunes.

SJ explains “We’re thrilled to be working with such an amazing producers such as Dave Morgan and Gareth Mannix – they’ve really pushed us as a band and we think we’ve really got our true sound down – we’re very excited about getting it out there”

Already accomplished producer Gareth Mannix has a considerable list of credits to his name. He has worked on platinum albums by Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, Damian Dempsey, Jack L and Juliet Turner. He’s worked with the best in emerging Irish talent including The Blizzards, Director and the Republic of Loose and for five years consecutively a number of acts who have used his talents have won Meteor music awards.

As co-producer Dave Morgan’s first production job he comes from a songwriting background and has co-penned hits for Kylie, Emma Bunton and Gabrielle.

The band can’t wait to get gigging around Ireland and beyond. Bassist, Richie Power: “While the studio has been really great it’s live shows that we really love as a band and we can’t wait to get the Dirty Epics show on the road”
